Do I have to pay for my listing?
No, the basic listing is absolutely free for life. You can opt for a listing with more benefits to you, but you have no obligation to do so. Our paid listing plans are affordable and get your listing more attention and features, but you will never be required to get a paid listing here.
Where did you get my business information?
The Paw Pages business listings are compiled from publicly available records; many listings are collected from smaller local directories (yelp, hotfrog, canpages, business.worldweb.com, or any of dozens of other directories), city business licence listings, the business’ own website or social media accounts (facebook business page for example). All of the above is public domain, already listed information, which has simply been brought together into one place for ease of use. Listings can also be created by registered users (typically this is a business owner adding their business to the directory to gain the benefits that gives them).
Can I remove my listing?
The Paw Pages lists business information that is publicly accessible or public record. All of the data listed here is already available and listed publicly. We simply list the public domain information on Pet related businesses in one place so it’s easy for consumers to find businesses providing the pet services they seek. Because the information is typically a matter of public record and public concern, we don’t remove such information from the site. An exception being if a business is no longer operating, a listing will be removed.
While we understand that some business owners might prefer to keep a low profile, it’s important (and a legal right) for consumers to be able to find and share helpful information about great local businesses. When a business is registered (gets a business licence) that is information readily available to the public and legal to be shared. Legitimate businesses benefit from being found by customers looking for their services, this isn’t listing hidden offshore shell companies, we’re listing public businesses providing publicly available services.
If you need to update or change the information on your business page because of an inaccuracy, simply register on site and claim your business listing. You are then able to edit the listing to the most current information.
This policy is no different than the policies of other online directories such as yelp.
Vandalizing a valid listing will be grounds to remove a user and remove access to edit business listings. Public domain information is a legal right and will be maintained.
